Samtse | April 29, 2026: The State Mining Corporation Limited (SMCL) is pleased to announce the launch of its Corporate Strategic Plan (CSP) 2026–2035, marking a significant milestone in the company’s journey toward developing Bhutan’s mineral sector into a more advanced, diversified, and sustainable industry.
The CSP was launched by the Chief Executive Officer in the presence of SMCL staff, reflecting the organization’s shared commitment to its long-term vision. The plan outlines SMCL’s strategic transition from basic mineral extraction to value-added production and diversification, including initiatives such as magnesium metal production from dolomite, graphite beneficiation, and tungsten concentrate development. This transformation is aimed at supporting national economic growth while ensuring long-term resource sustainability.
Aligned with the DHI 10X Strategy and the 21st Century Economic Roadmap, the CSP 2026–2035 integrates the principles of Gross National Happiness (GNH), with a strong emphasis on environmental responsibility, sustainability, and intergenerational equity. The plan sets an ambitious target to achieve and reinforces SMCL’s commitment to operational excellence, human resource development, and technological modernization through automation and AI systems.
Designed as a dynamic and adaptive roadmap, the CSP 2026–2035 will be continuously refined to respond to evolving global and market conditions. It reflects SMCL’s continued commitment to responsible mining, sustainable resource management, and national development.
